Coast Along for Wateraid
On The Cumbria Coastal Path
Take part in WaterAid’s sponsored walk around the beautiful coast paths of Britain and help provide safe water and effective sanitation to some of the poorest communities in Africa, Asia and the Pacific region.
The Challenge
The aim of Coast Along is to have a team of walkers on sections of the National Coast Paths around the UK on the same day.
The terrain is varied, each path being between 4 and 15 miles in length and graded from 'easy' to 'severe'! So whether you seek a leisurely weekend break with family or friends, or a more challenging team building exercise, Coast Along has something for everyone!
The two sections closest to Ravenglass are;
Silecroft to Muncaster and Ravenglass, which is 13.8 miles, it is described as 'Moderate' (no wheelchair access).
Ravenglass to St Bees, 13.8 miles, described as 'Moderate' (no wheelchair access)
There is no designated start/ finish time, other than the walk needing to take place on the 11th September. The aim is that each team member aims to raise a minimum of £50 in sponsorship for WaterAid, with family teams or children raising whatever they can.

Friday 29th and Saturday 30th October
Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway
Improved Ghostly goings on!
We’re going to ham it up with a ghastly, grizzly, ghostly journey for you all in Darkest Eskdale. The express ghost trains leave Ravenglass on their after hours missions at 5.30pm and 6.30pm. Once at Dalegarth, there’s a bowel of soup, or dead men’s sausage fingers, thrown into the cauldron for all travelers. Clank those chains to a tune or two while you are there and we are expecting you all to make an evening of it by dressing up too. Can we run to a vampireal prize for the best ghoul of the evening – we shall see!
On the way back the trains travel at a snail’s pace so ghoul spotting takes over. How many can you count and which one is the scariest?
This year to improve your comfort there’s no bed of nails, no ducking stools, but there are numbered seats for each carriage, guaranteeing families can sit together and there’s no scrabble to find a place.
Two after hours trains per day – 5.30pm and 6.30pm. Pre-booking essential.
